The most critical feature of an abundant harvest is a healthy root system on the plant. Nothing else contributes so dynamically to the plant's resilience as deep roots--especially during moisture extremes. But deep and abundant roots will not develop in compacted soils with improper balances between Calcium and Magnesium.
For the last 7 years Ag Spectrum has participated in ongoing studies of air and water management techniques at the USDA's National Soil Erosion Research Lab at Purdue University. This research has helped uncover many of the Nu-Till techniques that actually reduce hardpan, compaction, soil erosion, poor drainage and poor air and water exchanges.
To enhance the grower's soil we soil test by soil types (not by grids), process the data through Ag Spectrum's custom-designed software and make proper field-specific recommendations concerning such things as lime, gypsum and tiling.
